Today’s I Wonder

Today I was thinking about bills. Ah yes, the dreaded monthly bills. As I was driving around paying them, last minute of course, I came across a thought; Who is this bill person and why do we have to pay him an outrageous amount every single month? Obviously Bill does not exist. [If he did I am sure he would have had his ass handed to him ages ago.] This lead me to researching the word itself and finding it’s origin.

It is believed that the word is derived from the Latin word, bulla. In the medieval times bulla meant ‘seal’… Later on it meant a ‘document furnished with a seal’… Finally it was adapted from the French term bille.

And that concludes today’s history of the word bill. [Sorry bill, we still hate you.]

Today’s I Wonder

Why is yawning contagious?  Researches have searched and searched and yet none have a conclusive answer. It appears that humans are not the only animals that find yawning contagious. Apparently chimps do as well. [of course they would… they are closely related to humans. right?]  Some scientists believe that it is a general phenomenon of unconscious signals that serve to synchronize group behavior.”  Basically, we cannot prove why it happens, but we do know that group synchronization is important to survival… Does this mean we will communicate in yawns one of these days? Could yawning really be the one thing that can keep us alive? Sounds ridiculous, but you never know.

Today’s I Wonder…

I came across this theory today. It really intrigues me. Did Shakespeare write the King James version of the Bible?

Some people believe his writings are very closely related to those written in the King James Bible. Some numerologists believe this: It is believed that Shakespeare was 46 around the time that the King James Version of the Bible was written. In Psalms 46, the 46th word from the first word is shake and the 46th word from the last word is spear.

Is it possible for the great writer, Shakespeare, to have had a hand in writing the King James Version of the Bible or is it a mere coincidence? Some people also believe that Shakespear did not write his own plays due to a lack of intelligence. [I refuse to believe this!]

Tropfest Finalist 2010 - One

I absolutely love this video. I find myself able to relate to that red little die. I am sure many people can at one point or another. This video should have won the competition, in my opinion.

Today’s I Wonder…

Why do people leave their cars on at the gas station with their music blaring through the speakers? Do they think we will all sit in awe at what wonderful musical taste they have? Do they want us to see who they are and remember them as that one jackhole that should have had their car stolen because they were too cool to turn their car off?

Seriously, I do not get it.

infatuation

  • a foolish and usually extravagant passion or love or admiration
  • puppy love: temporary love of an adolescent
  • an object of extravagant short-lived passion
